Transformation 365

1. Becoming a Priority
As a mom, putting yourself first sounds completely outrageous. Each day you tackle a boatload of tasks, navigate through countless responsibilities, and prioritize the people that depend on you. Let's be honest, everyone in your life comes first, and has for as long as you can remember. In your mind, putting yourself first also includes neglecting what's important, which is far from true. When you make time for yourself... your physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing... everyone in your life benefits from it. When you make time for yourself, you can approach each day at full strength, instead of exhausted and broken down. To be better in all aspects of my life, I have to ensure I'm at full capacity, I have to be a priority.
Making yourself a priority also means removing toxic people from your life. There are people that have become a drain on our soul, and their presence does not actually add value. How can we be FULL if we have someone that chips away at us each day? Surround yourself with positive people that support you throughout life. If you're on a path of growth and improvement, maybe it's time to cut ties with people that drag you down. Additionally, drop those thoughts that are unnecessary weight. I am a firm believer in "positive thoughts, positive results" - even if I don't practice it regularly. If you have a negative mindset, how will you succeed?

2. Set Goals
2020 has been a difficult year for many people, which has also meant a surge of "I'm not making resolutions" claims. Instead of viewing it as a resolution, think of it as goals for self improvement. It is important to write down your goals and even share them with others for accountability. Throughout the year those goals may evolve and grow, but tracking that progression will give you the strength to keep pushing forward... and a reminder of how far you've come. Each goal may not be detailed, but it gives you a starting point that'll help you decide what to do next.
Recording your progress is great, but journaling during your progress will give you an extra push. It allows an opportunity to release feelings throughout the year, whether someone has been a hardship or an exciting venture, you are able to document and relive these moments. Keeping a journal tells a story of how hard you've worked, how far you've come, and how you remained focused on bettering your life.

3. Challenges -vs- Opportunities
We all face various challenges in life, no path is perfect or easy. How we approach what life throws our way, determines how it effects us emotionally. Instead of being upset that something didn't work, think of how you can do things differently moving forward. It's okay to cry out "why me", but do not dwell on that thinking. Do not allow the troubles to drag you down to a dark place, use it as fuel to handle things differently and be proud of your ability to evolve. One of my favorite quotes is a reminder of this mentality...

"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stand in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy"
- Martin Luther King Jr.
